2019-06-21 Tanglewood Seniors Group Meeting

Post by bbadmin »

Greetings!

Friday the 21st of June is the first day of summer -- Day of Summer Solstice. This is when the Earth, in its orbit, is closest to the Sun, and with that, we have the Longest Day and the Shortest Night of the year. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi JI proposed and the United Nations embraced this day as The International Day of Yoga. "Yoga is a way to discover the sense of Oneness with yourself, the world, and Nature."

This summer, there are a host of events happening in the city organized by the City of Ottawa, by the Indian community, and other ethnic and mainstream communities. Check the calendar on our website where some of the events are posted: https://icccseniors.org.

Weekly Program - Friday, June 21st, 2019

11:00 - 12:00......Yoga by Girija Waghray
12:00 - !3:00.......Potluck Lunch, and Tea
13:00 - 14:45......Information Sharing, Songs and Poetry
14:45 - 15:00......Pack-up and Tidy-up with everyone's help
12:00 - 15:00...... Bridge

Please Note:
1} Menu for Pot-Luck Lunch is almost complete. If you are able and willing to participate, please call / Text / send me an email so we can complete the menu.

2} This Friday we have a group of a research scientist from overseas who will be visiting us to study our model of operations.
Their subject is ‘healthy aging’. They might Interview some of us and will be doing videography/ photography of our events.
They will just be silent observers. Our schedule will remain unchanged.

3} ICCC Annual Picnic 2019 is on July 20th. Tickets went on sale last Friday at $15 each. Get your tickets soon, if you have not already because invitations have gone to Seniors across Ottawa at large; the tickets are likely to sell out fast.

A Quote By Sakyong Mipham: "Body Benefits from Movement, and the Mind Benefits from Stillness."

For Quality of Life and Healthy Aging, stay engaged in some physical and social ACTIVITY, and spare some time for REFLECTION.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Friday,

Warm Regards.
