Dear Friends,
In spite of the inclement winter and spring weather, ICCC Seniors have managed to celebrate and enjoy many of the recognized holidays and customs of our homeland, at our social gatherings. Our membership continues to grow. Tanglewood Community Centre is a popular place on Fridays!
Last Friday we celebrated Mother’s Day. We had a Full House! It was lovely to see everyone enjoying a meal together.
Sybil Braganza (Co-ordinator at the Social Planning Council of Ottawa) addressed our seniors group regarding the planned Pilot Project “Brain Health,” and recruited participants & volunteers from among our members.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As you all know, the Tanglewood Park Community Centre has a capacity of 100. The Fire Code regulation prohibits occupancy at any time in excess of 100. it will be considered a Safety Hazard. If a Fire Marshall happens to drop in and finds more than 100 people in the hall at any time, it will be deemed to be a violation of the Fire Code, which may cost us the privilege of renting this place for our meetings.
For the special events: Given the hall capacity of 100, we need to limit the occupancy to 100. We seek everyone’s cooperation for that. When we announce a special event, we request that people register immediately. The first 100 registrations will be accepted.
On a more cheerful note, a few outings and other events are being planned for the summer and later. We shall let you know as soon as each event is finalized. Stay tuned.
10 Km race for the fund-raising drive: On Friday, the 25th of May, I am participating in the Ottawa Race Weekend for the 10 Km race. Like last year, I will be raising funds for ICCC Seniors Programs and for Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally. Please donate generously. Tax Receipt will be given for donations of $20 and over.
Last year, with your generous donations, I raised over $1,200 for the ICCC Seniors Programs and approximately $700 for Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally. I am looking forward to collecting your donations within the next two weeks, and hopefully, exceeding last year’s collection.
