Announcements:

1. Holi/Family Day celebration is planned for Feb. 29, 2020 at Rinag Restaurant. Tickets, at $25 each are available.

2. Mahmood Iqbal will be making a presentation on Jan. 30 on CO2 emissions - a reality, with focus on Canada.


Last Meeting - Jan. 9, 2020: Twenty two people joined for the potluck lunch. During the discussion on Jan. 2, the issue of how little money (as low as 1-10%) that charities raise actually goes to the useful work. The major concern is the mega-salaries some charities pay to its CEOs. Jagjit did a quick study of the financial statements of some of the major charities, such as Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Kidney Foundation, David Suzuki Foundation, Stephen Lewis Foundation, MSMF. Contrary to some headlines, these charities spend 60 -85% of the money collected towards their projects.

The upshot is, to choose your charity carefully.
