Fellow Seniors, Greetings!

Announcements

1. Recently, I have learnt that the restriction for indoor gatherings limits the maximum number of people permitted in Room 340, to 13. Therefore, it appears that we will be holding our meetings virtually for quite some time. It just highlights the importance of keeping ourselves socially active, whether you meet friends virtually or for a coffee. Such meetings are not under the purview of ICCC. Needless to say, everyone is responsible for their own actions in protecting themselves from COVID-19.

2. One of our Seniors, Nilambri Ghai, has published a book, Johanne to Janaki, about her Danish grandmother, who came to India as a young bride and stayed. Here is a link to an excerpt from the book. It is available on Amazon.

3. Joining the Virtual Meetings:

As you may be aware that there are two virtual meetings a week available for ICCC seniors; one is on Thursdays hosted by me, and the other on Fridays, which Sudesh Kanda hosts. You may attend one or both the meetings.

If you have not downloaded Zoom Meeting, then please do so well in advance of the meeting. Five minutes prior to the start of the meeting, open Zoom and join by providing meeting ID and password given below or by using the respective links. Please note that if for some reason the meeting ends unexpectedly, login again using the link provided.

Thursday Meeting:

4. Meeting, Last Thursday: Sept. 3, 2020

About 12 people joined for this meeting, and we enjoyed songs and jokes by various members. There was a discussion about holding our meetings in an outdoor setting. ICCC Board had decided not to do so. One person expressed a wish that it should be reconsidered. There were others who felt that risk of getting COVID-19 increases with the number of people in the gathering, and for some that may be unacceptable.

5. Meeting, This Thursday: Sept. 10, 2020

This will be our usual meeting with songs and poetry recital etc. Invariably, there will be some questions and discussion about how coronavirus could affect our lives in the months, and perhaps years, to come.

Please let me know well in advance, if you would like to make a presentation on some topic of common interest.
